Less than a year after taking over the space at Le Bec-Fin, Avance has chosen to close its doors

Avance will shutter after dinner service on Saturday, October 11.

Avance, the Philadelphia restaurant that inherited the space of the much lauded classic French restaurant Le Bec-Fin, will close its doors after dinner on Saturday, October 11, after less an a year of service, reports Philly.com.

The restaurant had struggled in the past several months, including an eviction attempt and subsequent summer closure, and had only just reopened in September.

Reviews had been mixed during the restaurant’s tenure, and Avance’s team admitted that, despite their best intentions, “the modern concept did not work in the location as the team had hoped.”

Avance’s chef-partner, Michelin-starred chef Justin Bogle, told Philly.com’s Michael Klein that the decision to “bow out gracefully” was entire based on the financial reality and promised a great dinner service on Saturday to bid farewell.

“We just don't have time to wait and see when it could turn a corner,” Bogle told Klein. “We gave it a shot. We have an awesome team; we'll all land on our feet.”

Only 10 months after debuting at Pawn Star Rick Harrison’s Pawn Plaza, Toronto-born Smoke’s Poutinerie has shuttered, a short walk from the crowds visiting the famed Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.

A huge hit in Canada since 2008, husband and wife team Rob and Natalie Buckel operated the Las Vegas franchise, the first in a series of planned local expansions. The Henderson couple found earlier franchise success operating Jimmy John’s sandwich stores in Henderson.

While the closure is confirmed, an official announcement has yet to be made, but the phone is already disconnected and Smoke's Poutinerie has removed Nevada from its online "locations" map. The Canadian company’s inroads into the lower 48 includes outposts in Florida, Arizona and California, with bold ambition to develop "1,300 restaurants around the world by 2020."

Featuring a singular menu focus of fries, seasoning, gravy and curds, plus more than 30 extra topping options, fans or curious diners need to head to Bruxie at The Park, Public House at the Venetian, or Haute Doggery at The Linq to find poutine on a local, daily menu.
